Well, I'm from Texas and we moved to Florida back in November of 99. I was very depressed about the move cause we were going to be SO far away from friends and family.
I worked for my brother in Texas. He has a daughter that worked for him also.
They also live in their place of business so there's a lot of personal stuff that goes with the job.
My niece got a PUG and I fell in love with him. She was attending school and I told her if she would put PUGSLEY in his kennel before she left for school, I would go get him and take care of him in my office
until she got to work/home. By doing so, I grew to be VERY attached to him.
I spent time with him taking him to go potty, teaching him to sit, lay down, roll over, and a ton more of tricks.
He was SO easy to train. All I had to do is give him a "chewy"!
Well, when we decided to move to Florida, the thought of leaving PUGSLEY
behind was so devastating. I mean, I spent more time with that little PUG than I did most of my family members.
There's a song by LeAnn Rimes called, "Leavings Not Leavin." I would hear that song and think about PUGSLEY and cry.
It was really weird for me to get that attached to a dog but I did. Anyway, we planned a family-and-friend dinner at a restaurant in Rockwall, Texas called The Black Eyed Pea. I was
sitting there at the table, I had received several going away presents.
Then all of a sudden my niece came in with a dark pink gift bag. She handed it to me and it kind of moved.
The bag was very small and I had NO idea what was in it. I opened the little bag to see the sweetest
looking little PUG ever! He was SO adorable!!! I tried all kinds of different names for him but I just couldn't get away from PUGSLEY.
I figured since I was going to be 1,300 hundred miles away from the BIG PUG I would go ahead and name him that. When we go home to Texas, we call him LITTLE PUG and call my nieces BIG PUG and it works out fine.
PUGSLEY has filled my heart and my families lives with so much joy. He's a wonderful pet and is SO much a part of my family.
His birthday was September 10 and we took him to a DOGGIE park in DelRay Beach, Florida called Ida Park Lake.
It was wonderful and PUGSLEY was exhausted after his 3 hour excursion!
I am taking him to a training class starting next week. I went to orientation and the trainer said something that I totally disagree with.
She says that a dog can NOT understand English. They can't understand us?
I don't believe that. When my PUG had a bone in his mouth this past week-end, and he stood at the backdoor barking, asking me if he could bring this bone in and I said, "ok, go ahead" and then he proceeded to come in the house with the bone??
How could it be that we did not communicate with each other when it was so clear that I understood him and he understood me?
Oh well, who knows? All I know is I'm glad I got to share my story with you and I hope that it fills you heart with joy to read it. :o)
